Apple Intelligence currently requires 7 GB of free space to run on iPhone, according to Apple’s support site. In October 2024, 4 GB was enough.
The increase in system requirements is due to the fact that iOS 18.2 released a major update to Apple Intelligence, adding integration with ChatGPT, as well as Genmoji, Image Playground and Visual Intelligence functions.
Most of these features run directly on the device and require downloading the appropriate AI models to use them.
The company has not yet added all the Apple Intelligence features presented at WWDC 2024. After their release, even more free space on the device will be required.
