Eva Prokofieva, founder and CEO of cybersecurity company EPCYBER, bought a USB-C to Ethernet adapter loaded with a virus on AliExpress.

When disassembling the device, she discovered an SPI memory chip on the board, which contained one file for Windows. The system recognized him as competitive, and for good reason.

This virus injects code into processes, bypasses virtual machines, changes proxy settings, and remembers keystrokes.

Interestingly, the code used in the code is in Russian, likely to hide the true location of the virus.

The specific model of the adapter is not specified, but on AliExpress in one store the device was sold more than 10 thousand times. [X]
