The airline insists that alcohol purchases by passengers at airports be limited to “two drinks.” Ryanair plans to require bar and pub staff to ask their customers for boarding passes if they want to buy alcohol.

At the beginning of January, the airline filed a claim for 15,000 euros against an unidentified passenger, which is why in April 2024 the airline had to land a plane en route from Dublin to Lanzarote in the Portuguese capital.

In its lawsuit, Ryanair demands that the defendant reimburse it for the expenses it incurred for a hotel for 160 passengers and crew, the landing of the plane, its maintenance at the Portuguese airport and other damages.

The Guardian clarified that flight attendants have the right not to serve alcohol to passengers, but the airline is seeking specific legal restrictions.
