A bug in WhatsApp allows you to view single-view photos more than once. The malfunction was detected by journalists technoblog and proven on iPhone.
Strategy abuses storage management mechanism of WhatsApp to get the previously viewed image. The process is quite simple and has gone viral on social networks such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
According to the report, breach can only be reproduced on iPhonebut there are also reports of it working on Android. In the tests carried out TecMundoIn the latest version of WhatsApp, we could not receive temporary photos.
Step by step guide to recover single view photos:
- Open the single view image in WhatsApp;
- In the app, go to: three-dot menu > Settings > Storage & data > Manage storage;
- Use the search tool to find the conversation that received the self-harm image;
- Inside the conversation, open the filters in the upper right corner and select “Most Recent.”
- If the bug is running, the single preview image will appear right at the top of the page.
It’s unclear whether the method also allows you to use retrieved videos in a single view.
Considering the ease of exploiting the vulnerability and circulating news, A fix is likely to be prepared urgently — that is, if it does not already exist.
