At the end of 2023, Russian Artashes Ikonomov sued Apple for infringing on his emergency calling mobile phone patent. Then he demanded 295 billion rubles from the Cupertino residents.
In turn, the company insisted on invalidating the patent and won the dispute. The decision was made due to the expiration of the patent and the “arguments of the party.”
But this did not stop Ikonomov. He filed an appeal to overturn the decision to revoke the patent. However, the court refused him.
It is noteworthy that Ikonomov already tried to stop the sale of the iPhone for violating the same patent, but lost in court. An Apple representative called him a patent troll. [РБК]
