The application covers the classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services (CIGS) 03, 09, 14, 16, 18, 25 and 34. We speak, in particular, of jewelry, shower gels, glasses, paper, cardboard, leather and its imitations, clothing, smoking accessories.
The Richemont holding company and the Cartier jewelry company, to which it belongs, announced the suspension of their commercial activities in Russia after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. Cartier, as well as other Richemont brands, closed their boutiques in the country.
Cartier is one of the most prestigious luxury goods manufacturers in the world. According to information on the official website, the company produces and markets jewelry, watches, bags, accessories, home decoration, toys, scented candles and perfumes.
Maria Aronikova, head of the trademark practice Semenov & Pevzner, in an interview with RB.RU, noted that companies submit applications to Rospatent for those trademarks that have formally become vulnerable to attacks due to lack of use.
Previously, Hong Kong-based Harbor Peak IP Management Limited submitted an application to Rospatent for registration of the Vulcan trademark. In Russia in the 2000s, gambling halls then owned by billionaire Oleg Boyko’s Ritzio Entertainment Group used the name “Vulcan.” His holding company Finstar RB.RU stated that the businessman’s structures are not related to the registration of a new brand.
