“Bristol” and “Red & White” began to close in the Vologda region

According to the newspaper, in December they began to appear on the Internet rental of spaces that previously occupied stores of these chains. There are about 10 ads of this type published in Avito in Vologda and Cherepoovets. One of them affirms that the place will be “unemployed as of January 25,” the other states that the area will be “unoccupied in January.”

The Krasnoe & White Network Press Service told Vdomosti that they do not comment on what is happening in the Vologda region.

In November, the Regional Parliament decided to limit the sale of alcohol in stores during the week at 12:00 to 14:00 local time. Restrictions do not apply to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, theaters and hotels. On weekends and holidays the sale of alcohol will continue normally.

The head of the region, Georgy Filimonov, said directly that the measure was directed against Bristol and Krasnoe & Beloe retailers, emphasizing that alcohol markets “would leave the market” after the adoption of relevant legislation. The founder of Krasny & Bely, Sergei Studennikov, replied saying that the company does not manage alcohol markets, but “convenience stores”, in which the proportion of alcohol sales is “less than a quarter.”

Group X5 (which manages the Pyaterochka, Perekrestak and Chizhik chains) told Vdomosti that they do not plan to change the assortment in the Vologda region, despite the new restrictions. “At the moment there is no talk of closing stores, but we will focus on the economic indicators and make decisions based on them,” they said in the press service. Auchan Retail Russia does not yet plan to limit the sale of alcohol, said a company representative.
