This is the first record of this type in Russia: in Bashkortostan the permits for traditional medicine since 2019, but they have been collected in a single list of healers, Kommersant writes
Now the list has seven people who practice herbalization, sinus, aromatherapy, yogaterapia, acupuncture, Tibetan pulsotherapy, as well as “ethnic methods of psychological impact.”
The Bashkortostan Ministry of Health explained that popular medicine includes “recovery methods that have been established in popular experience, which are based on the use of knowledge, practical skills and skills to evaluate and restore health.” At the same time, “hidden-march and religious rites” services are not considered popular medicine.
Residents of the Republic, “who have received permission and have no medical education, operate in the field of traditional medicine under the supervision of a doctor,” the permit itself is broadcast for five years, the ministry said.
The first vice president of the State Duma Health Committee, Badma Bashankaev, previously proposed to create a registration of healers and herbalists. In an interview with Kommersant, he declared that, after having created such a list, the Bashkortostan authorities “took a step towards control over the situation.” The deputy added that not all regions can implement this project due to lack of experience and examination, so a federal legislative initiative is needed.
Vasily Vlasov, vice president of the Society of Specialists in Evidence Medicine, recalled that from the point of view of doctors in exercise, traditional medicine “is not a scientific and medical practice.” “That is, by definition, everything healers are useless from the point of view of medicine. It can be pleasant for people, such as massage, for example. Well, if you like, let them pay money. But there are no real or false healers, ”said the expert.
