BMW states that electric cars “do not strengthen the competitiveness of European manufacturers, but damage the commercial models of world -active companies.” In addition, duties “limit the supply of electric vehicles to European customers and can slow down decarbonization in the transport sector,” according to a German company.
They added that the achievement of a political agreement with China through negotiations would be more preferable instead of introducing duties to avoid a commercial conflict. According to Bloomberg, the EU has so far reached only limited progress in negotiations with the RPC on said agreement.
In relation to Tesla electric vehicles produced in China, the EU authorities introduced antisubsidiae tariffs for an amount of 7.8%. At the same time, mask cars are already subject to European import tariffs of 10%. BMW Mini Cooper and Mini Aceman Electric Cars, produced in the RPC, were also covered with rates for an amount of 20.7%.
In October, Bloomberg’s sources said EU countries voted to increase tariffs up to 45% for the importation of China electric vehicles. According to the agency, the decision was supported by 10 members of the Alliance, Germany and four opposite countries, and another 12 states abstained.
The decision to increase tariffs was taken after the EU authorities established that the Chinese government unfairly subsidized its industry. In response to an increase in RPC duties, they introduced temporary anti -exumer measures against the EU brandy.
