The Federal State Statistics Service (ROSSTAT) annually adapts the system of calculating the consumer price index (CPI), based on the analysis of the cost of selected goods and services, reviewing the composition of the products included in the set. In 2025, the number of goods and services in the list decreased from 566 to 556, but new positions appeared in the registry.

According to the department’s press service, from the list of goods and services to calculate the CPI to track and predict inflation in 2025, sewing machines, subscriber rates for radio points, a bank commission to transfer funds from a card to a client from another credit institution and a series of positions.
Among the new articles on the list are “green peas, fresh pepper, sweet, permollis robot, tooth seal”, etc.
Some points have clarified: now they will evaluate the cost of the “soccer ball”, but in general, “sports ball.” Similarly, with bricks (“red brick” was replaced by simply “brick”). And also renamed the male “shirt” in the “shirt.”
The significant changes have suffered a registration block dedicated to drugs: 28 positions were excluded, but 18 new, more popular, according to Rostat (including Pentalgin, Valcerine, Cardiomagnil, Tray Cut, etc.).
“The demand for goods and services is changing dynamically, so the selection of positions for monitoring is carried out during the year. This allows you to take into account only those goods and services that really affect the price level in the country, ”the department explains the need for an annual review of the list in an official notification.
The ROSSTAT, as noted in the department, includes positions with consumer expenses of 0.1% and more, which helps to “objectively evaluate inflationary processes and correctly analyze prices dynamics.”
According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, annual inflation in the country in January 2025 was accelerated to 9.92%, and prices in an expression of one month increased by 1.23%. And these are not maximum indicators: the Central Bank awaits the greatest growth for May.
