The VVP Group did not respond to the newspaper application, but the Kommersant source, near the company, confirmed that the distributor is studying the possibility of smartphone production. Samsung rejected comments.
- The VVP Group has been renting a Samsung plant in the Kaluga region for a year, the distributor has been doing televisions and washing machines there. In September, the company “Graviton” (belongs to 3logic Group) began the assembly of contract monitors in this company, and at the beginning of winter servers.
What will the device be called? According to the source in the electronic market, it plans to produce a smartphone VVP group under the Bayon brand. The interlocutor of the publication close to the company has denied this. According to Spark-Inrfax, Bayon’s online retailer is owned by LLC Director “in Logistics” (belongs to the VVP group) Sergey FOTI. Previously, Bayon registered the Bayón Bayón Op LLC in the Samsung factory in the Kaluga region.
In 2023, Bayon LLC received certificates for the importation of telephone vehicles of its own production, and in the summer of 2024 registered the Metame trade brand.
How much does it cost? It can equip the plant in Kaluga again for the assembly of relatively finished devices, but the key components must be imported, said Kirill Skvortsov, director of Strategic Development of the Sti Group. “The most expensive in the production of smartphones is an apartment to test devices that are not in the Kaluga company,” added the source of a newspaper among electronics manufacturers.
According to him, the price of a machine used to verify the radiofrequency channels is approximately 9 million rubles. For the “rhythmic liberation” of the links of such machines, at least four are needed, and it is impossible to legally import them to Russia, the interlocutor emphasized.
- According to Skvortsov, in the case of Samsung’s return, he was able to establish an assembly of the youngest models of his smartphones at the Kaluga plant. Previously, the media of South Korea wrote that some Korean brands, including LG, Samsung and Hyundai, are considering the resumption of activity in Russia.
