The Bybit Ben Zhou head promised that the exchange could compensate for losses, since the cost of all its assets is more than $ 20 billion.
As Zhou explained, the funds were stolen from Ethereum “Frías” wallets, in which computer pirates found a hole in security. They were fixed to send the owners of these wallet reports on the signature of transactions with a phishing element: the participants in the transaction saw the right direction in the text, but in fact they confirmed the change in the smart contract.
At this time, as the representatives of the cryptocurrencies ensure, all wallets are safe, the withdrawal of funds is carried out in standard mode. It is true that after the news about cryptocurrency hacking, they fell sharply: not only Ethereum (which reduced the estimation of the damage from $ 1.5 billion to $ 1.46 billion), but also Bitcoin. The latter fell from $ 99 thousand to $ 97.5 thousand.
