Microsoft announced this week that updates are coming for two key apps in Windows 11 – Camera and Media Player. The news will not be distributed to all users yet, but will reach members of the Windows Insiders program first.

Participants in the Windows test program on Dev Channel will have initial access to Camera version 2022.2206.2.0 and Media Player version 11.2206.30.0.

The camera app update is mainly aesthetic and slightly changes its appearance to match the style of Windows 11. But the update also brings a new QR Code and barcode scanning functionality.

Media Player finally gains a function for ripping CDs – it digitally saves the contents of the songs on the CD to your PC. With the update you can rip your CD to AAC, WMA, FLAC and ALAC formats.

After the update you will be able to rip your CDs directly in Media Player.

The Windows Insider program gives its participants a chance to try Windows updates before they are complete. Enthusiasts can check out what’s new before everyone else, but sometimes they encounter some bugs and issues and submit their feedback to Microsoft. Participation is free for anyone interested, just check the instructions on the official website.
