Previously, the Linux virtual machine can use only 16 GB of memory that limits the functionality of the vehicle. With the release of Android 16, Beta 4 has removed the disk size and allowed users to use a lot of space for data storage when necessary.

Now the size of the disk can be configured to cover most of the memory on the host and remains 1 GB for the virtual machine itself. The process of changing the size of the Linux disk was tested at the Google Pixel 9 Pro, which runs Android 16 Beta 4, and successfully increased its memory volume to 42.3 GB during the experiment. As Rakhman points out, this update provides users more flexibility and container to store Linux virtual machines on Android devices.

However, this function is not yet ready for professional use as it does not support graphic applications and sound output.
