One of the new studies was carried out by Canada and Chinese scientists and published in Plos Biology. 50 adults participated in this study, which was an average age of 65 years. Half of them played a musical instrument for at least 32 years, while the rest did not play anything. In addition, experts won 24 young people with average 23 -year -old and without music education.

During the MRI screening, it turned out that the brain of elderly musicians reacted to the tasks in the same way as the brain of young participants. At the same time, those who did not deal with music had signs of decrease in age in cognitive abilities. In particular, they had to use the left hemisphere, not just right.

Another study was carried out by scientists from Kyoto University (Japan) and published in Imaging Neuroscience. Experts, even if a person began to play the instrument in the old age, it is still strengthening the health of the brain. 53 elderly people with an average of 73 years of age participated in this study. They learned to play a musical instrument for four months. Four years later, scientists screened the same participants MRI, and 13 of them continued to make music.

It turned out that those who throw the game to the instrument show the worst results in memory tests. Moreover, the volume of the brain responsible for motor functions, training and memory has decreased. People who continued to make music for four years did not explain the symptoms of this deterioration in the brain.
