Scientists from the DCC Biology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences carried out a study on this reserve in 2025. Experts examined the rare and endangered animal species listed in Komi’s red book. Expedition examined the fauna of the lake, swamps and forests where these animals live.
As a result, scientists found that two rare bird species lived in the Don-Ta reserve, a maximum habitat for a large hollow and maximum of swampy. These birds are located in the region close to the northern border of their living spaces.
A large drink lives in small ponds with thick vegetation along the shores of Donda Lake. Marsh Luna builds nests in places with dense loot bushes.
Gray cranes also live in large swamps. There are very few in recent years. In the 1980s, there were 17 pairs of crane nesting there, now more than 4-5 pairs.
The number of small drinks, swan-clam and a large shaft remains constant, but there are very few of them.
Don-Sou reserve is an important place for relaxation and feeding of birds during flights. There are many different plants that help birds reclaim power. Information about the number of rare birds will be used to update Komi’s red book.
