Development began as a research project and turned into Tissium in 2013. The technology is now used in the Cotemium Connect to recover the nerves in the fingers and legs. The system contains a polymer, a 3D printed holder to fix the source of the nerve and blue light. After activation, the polymer ties the ends of the nerve reliably and then slowly dissolved.
In clinical studies, 12 patients participated in the nerves of the fingers – all of them are completely restored mobility. For comparison, a significant improvement is obtained in only 54% of patients with a traditional stitch.
Tissium develops six medical solutions based on this technology, including hernia treatment system and the sealing of heart ships.
