The project, called Nomar (ship without a crew ”), creates a medium -sized warship from scratch without all the elements required for the team: cabin, bridge, ventilation or warehouse facilities. In this way, Defiant turned out to be light, compact and “dagger -shaped”.
The length of the ship is 55 meters, the displacement is 240 tons. It can improve speeds up to 37 km/h and reduces it to 15 knots after an autonomous swim for one year. Challenging systems are similar to the equipment of space probes: “Trusted, owners of repetitive components and independently reservation, including autonomous fuel supply”.
It is designed for fast production and light service in any port that offers ship, yacht and tugboat. In the future, such autonomous ships will be able to perform routine tasks and search for patrol ports and underwater objects.
After the completion of sea tests, Defant will be transferred to the control of the Unmanned Marine Systems of the US Navy.
