The study was conducted by a group of scientists from the University of Minnesota and other universities. They developed a personalized approach: At first they made a detailed MRI scan to determine which regions of the brain were related to this patient. Later, electrodes were installed surgically and started to offer weak impulses in different areas.

When stimulation affected the very “passive regime net” associated with internal thoughts, the patient suddenly burst into tears with happiness. Other regions gave the effect of calm or healing concentration.

Treatment continued every day with small sessions. Seven weeks later, six months later, the situation healed significantly and had a complete remission for nine months. This effect was preserved for two years.

Scientists have already made a second implantation and preparing for clinical studies.
