Since October, we have iPhones.ru observing unusual service.
iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro went on sale worldwide on September 19, just under 4 weeks ago. Their cost at first was expectedly high.
But starting from the second week of October, Russians will be able to buy almost all of these smartphones at almost cost, one of which is even better than in most countries, including the United States.
According to our calculations, it turns out that the cheapest iPhone Air in the world is available in Russia today.
What is happening with prices for iPhone 17 in Russia
iPhone Air prices on Avito are dropping rapidly over a huge week.
We want to draw attention to prices on the “gray” market. The situation within parallel imports and large retail does not reflect the trend: here prices are observed at the original level.
Let’s take the basic configurations of all new iPhones. This model with 256 GB memory:
▪ iPhone 17 (eSIM): RUB 72,000.
▪ iPhone 17 (SIM+eSIM): RUB 75,000.
▪ iPhone Air: from 71,000 rub..
▪ iPhone 17 Pro (eSIM): RUB 112,000.
▪ iPhone 17 Pro (SIM+eSIM): RUB 119,000.
▪ iPhone 17 Pro Max (eSIM): RUB 117,000.
▪ iPhone 17 Pro Max (SIM+eSIM): RUB 134,000.
These are the prices on gray channels for Gorbushka in Moscow. They are not significantly higher and on Avito, where most sellers work, they are an official product. Important note: these are prices “from France”, that is, all iPhones can be picked up today for the appropriate price.
There are no anomalies with the prices of the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max lines. But it is with the price of the iPhone Air:
▸ official price of iPhone Air in the USA: from $999
▸ price in the USA at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation: RUB 80,769.
▸ price in Russia on the “gray market”: from 71,000 rubles.
It turns out, that in Russia the iPhone Air is now cheaper than in the USA.
Why did this happen
The reasons are not entirely clear, but there are two guesses. The first is a very quick look at the iPhone Air and the glut of offerings for that model. A smartphone is not necessarily a mass product; it has many external factors, and it is clearly not a device that is taken “without looking.”
The second is the generally low interest of Russians in new iPhone models. Our gray market sources report that this is the worst release of new Apple smartphones in recent years in terms of interest and sales volume.
We will continue to monitor the service closely.
