The analytics company JagaJam reported that views of popular Russian bloggers on YouTube fell by 12–78% as a result of the slowdown.
Experts compared data on new content that bloggers posted from July 22 to August 25, and with the same duration of the previous period – from June 17 to July 21. For example, views on children’s blogger Vladislava Bumaga fell by 78% to 100.4 million, and on the channel of blogger and musician Khabiba Sharipov, views fell by 24.6% to 23.2 million.
Some bloggers also embed the videos they publish. For example, on Dima Maslennikov’s channel, their number decreased by 50% to 2 over the compared periods.
YouTube’s average daily reach fell from 46% between July 15 and 21 to 41% between August 19 and 25, according to Mediascope. This is due not only to the slowdown, but also to bloggers duplicating videos on other platforms. [Ведомости]
