The attacks are global in nature, affecting various regions including Russia, Europe, the United States, India, Vietnam and Argentina. The most commonly used technique by hacktivists was DDoS, mentioned in 61% of posts containing the hashtag.
Hacktivists actively use hashtags to promote their activities. More than 2,000 unique tags have been discovered in 2025, including 1,500 new ones. These signs help them identify themselves, take responsibility, and draw attention to their attacks.
Attackers are also forming alliances to increase their influence by using common hashtags. Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence analyst Ksenia Kudasheva emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring to identify potential targets. The expert recommends converting information “noise” into meaningful signals using special monitoring solutions.
