For now, PUG will mostly perform at public events. He was even officially assigned to the department responsible for public interaction. The vehicle is planned to participate in patrols later.
The project is being created in partnership with Policing Lab, a nonprofit organization that helps police officers “master new technologies.” PUG increases situational awareness, takes over routine tasks and allows officers to focus on the “human side” of the job, according to executive director Marjolain Bruggeling.
