It has been reported that next-generation technologies will be divided into four areas: 6G, AI for RAM, AI for RAN, and large telecommunications model. The main purpose of the collaboration is to identify new application opportunities, develop basic technologies and demonstrate their effectiveness. With the increasing adoption of 5G, new 6G technologies and frequency bands are emerging, and artificial intelligence is playing a key role in optimizing wireless networks.
Jinguk Jeong, head of Advanced Communications Research Center at Samsung Research, emphasized the importance of identifying use cases and securing core technologies for further commercialization. Samsung’s AI for RAN integrates AI into base station workflows to improve network optimization and improve user experience.
Hideyuki Tsukuda, SoftBank’s chief technology officer, said the company is pleased to partner with Samsung and the opportunity to accelerate the creation of efficient and reliable next-generation networks using AI RAN.
