Sony reported that it shipped 2.4 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the last quarter, up just 4% from the same period last year. Console sales increased slightly year-over-year, while software sales fell 26%.
In a note to investors, Sony blamed the situation on the scarcity of PlayStation games this year compared to 2021, and less time spent playing games in general. This is confirmed by the 3% monthly decrease in the number of active users of PlayStation Network.
