In 1981, the Mi-6 helicopter crashed into a swamp near the town of Tarko-Sale. Before that, he flew over the expanses of the USSR for almost 17 years. It is believed that the accident occurred due to the failure of both power units. Literally a few minutes before that, the aircraft filled its fuel reserves.

Before the collision, the helicopter was flying at low altitude as it was carrying cargo on an external hanger. After the failure of the power units, the pilots decided to land somewhere in the swamps.

Fortunately, everyone in the helicopter managed to survive. However, due to a strong blow, the ship itself was no longer subject to restoration.

After the examination, it was revealed that the reason for the failure of the engines was water entering the tank of the ship. This happened because someone was pumping water into the wrong tanks without the pilots’ knowledge.

The helicopter was not evacuated for two reasons. The first is the inaccessibility of the territory. The second is the swamp. Therefore, they took everything needed from the ship and left it in the swamp.
