It’s no secret that I use the 2020 MacBook Pro M1 every day. It has a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. In case I seriously decided to get a Windows laptop as well, so as not to characterize it as appearance “Windows”, and indeed, for so many years I have been sitting on“apples”, you need to somehow diversify your working days.
The criteria I met with management when choosing a new laptop were:

▪️ reliable body materials
▪️ nice keyboard
▪️ performance
I would especially like to note that I was going to look for a laptop among models with 13″ and approximately in the same price category as my MacBook.
Imagine my surprise when, after looking through and feeling a dozen options, I suddenly realized: my macbook pro is better than any windows laptop on all counts, the description above.
Why? Now I will explain in order.
1. Ease of use and body materials
I add a lot of nuances to these two words, because I pick up a laptop, open it, print it and generally spend time with it for many hours every day, including weekends. So the very first thing I wanted to find was a laptop on Windows, the lid of which can be opened with one hand.
And you know what? Having visited 3 stores and tried all the laptops in the window, I could not find one.
you would notice, it’s already 2022 in the yard, is it really difficult to make a comfortable, articulated one that will work as it should? Let not the entire gadget be made of aluminum, but one single structural element could somehow be thought out.
Alas, today in the world of Windows laptops there are no models that can be opened with one hand. Be sure to attach the part while you pull the cover up.
Under the lid is the keyboard, and with it, too, sheer disappointment. All the laptops I’ve touched are made of plastic, so the keyboard deck on ALL models sags noticeably when you press the buttons.
Yes, some laptops have a thinner bezel around the screen. But this plus cannot outweigh the many minuses, which I also include the noise from the production of coolers, the heating of the case when performing quite trivial tasks, such as working in Word, and the general feeling of cheap materials made from mineral raw materials.
I remind you that I was looking for a laptop with a diagonal of 13″ no higher than 95,000 rubles.
2. Touchpads on laptops are a letdown
Well, if you can get used to the plastic case, then what is completely impossible to get used to is the touchpad.
On all “window” laptops, this element has not changed, it seems, for ten years already: it is still inconvenient to use it at all, it is unpleasant to press the physical buttons under the touchpad, and the touchpad sensitivity is not taken into account in some comparison with my macbook.
A mouse MUST be purchased with any Windows laptop, otherwise it is impossible to work in an undesirable environment. I don’t want to use a separate pointing device after years of using the handy touchpad on my MacBook.
3. Nice keyboard
If you’ve ever typed on a MacBook keyboard, you weren’t even interested in the tactile sensations of touching a Windows laptop keyboard. Many still have a rubber gasket, which is pressed when the button is pressed and does not have a clear click.
I don’t count laptops with a keyboard – these are mostly top-end options for gamers. But in models for work, you press the keyboard, but it feels like you are pressing on a plastic bag with some kind of jelly, fu.
4. Performance
I chose a laptop in exactly the same way as ordinary peoplecoming to the electronics store. I didn’t have time to test, there was no way to install games and benchmarks, I just opened a lot of applications and looked at whether the laptop would lag or not.
Edge browser, office suite, app store, explorer… Launching all the pre-installed programs already starts the laptop making an alarming noise with coolers, and after a few minutes the window starts to lag during a quick transfer. And I have not yet chosen a YouTube video as the background, I am not downloading a package of photos from a cloud drive and I am not launching a bunch of instant messengers.
But on my MacBook Pro M1, all this, plus saving the video in iMovie, happens without any lags and dependencies. Everything works stably, and most importantly – mabuk is completely silent. Well, how is it?
5. The best macbook can only be a new macbook
What can be the advantages of a Windows laptop over a MacBook Pro, even if my 2020 MacBook appeared and a scattering of laptops is newer? After reviewing the various options, I was surprised to come to the conclusion that there is not a single objective plus, because of which I would be ready to part with consciousness and change the personality of the MacBook.
Perhaps, in some synthetic tests, laptops can be more powerful, but I specifically saw how launching several applications already calls Windows, and I haven’t installed any graphic editors, video converters and others yet, I often use a series of programs.
I do not name random laptop models that I looked at, because you yourself can go to any hardware store and see them in the window. Beautiful, new, they stand and lure the buyer with their appearance, but it is worth getting to know them better, as you can see – manufacturers sell a lot of money, but cannot enjoy the same comfort of use as Apple does.
So I came up with the idea to buy a new Windows laptop. I’d rather take a used MacBook Air, pump Windows into it, and it will work for me faithfully for many years. The only question that doesn’t give me the raw material is why would anyone still be buying these plastic laptop laptops. suffering work when there is Apple?
