The scientists created a new material for the turbine by combining fiberglass with a plant-based polymer and a synthetic one. Panels made from this material have proven to be strong and durable enough to be used in turbines or automobiles. The researchers then thawed the panels and physically removed the fiberglass, allowing them to recycle the material into new products of the same type. More importantly, the converted panels had the same physical properties as their predecessors.
The researchers were even able to extract food-grade potassium lactate from the material and use it to make gummy bears, which they then ate.
