The coating has proven lethal for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19), E. coli and a number of other pathogens. It killed 99.9% of germs even after several months of repeated cleaning and other effects on real surfaces.
The coating uses antimicrobial ingredients derived from tea tree oil and cinnamon. The durability of the coating is ensured by a polyurethane, strong varnish-like sealant. Test results show that the material can eliminate pathogens for six months or more before the oil begins to evaporate and reduce the disinfectant effect.
