Thus, 41% of respondents now choose devices from Chinese manufacturers, 19% abandon smartphones of well-known and familiar brands, and 11% consider purchasing devices from unknown companies. In addition, almost every fifth now pays attention to budget models, and 14.5% could not decide on a suitable gadget on the Russian market.
According to the data, 50% of the survey participants started considering alternative sites to buy gadgets. For example, 35% buy used models, 10% buy smartphones in gray markets, 9% order from another country, 4% – from unofficial online stores. Nearly every third admitted to delaying purchasing a smartphone until better times after the sanctions were imposed.
“Right now, retailers – gadget selling platforms – are constrained by a state of uncertainty and a drop in demand from buyers. Analysts recorded a record drop in sales in Q2 of 2022. Plus, after the start of parallel imports, many new non-professional players entered the market and began to compete with large retailers,” said Artur Sargsyan, commercial director of Calltouch.
