This picture was made by an artificial intelligence program called Midjourney. He used the description given to him by Allen (that’s the winner’s name) to create this image. The situation sparked controversy on social media, with working artists and enthusiasts accusing Allen of hastening the demise of the creative profession.

“I knew this would cause controversy,” Allen wrote on Discord. “How interesting to see that all these people on Twitter who are against the art produced by artificial intelligence, are the first to throw a person under the bus by discrediting the human element! Don’t you think that’s hypocrisy?”

The truth is, it took Allen about a hundred tries and several weeks to achieve the ideal result when manually processing the final job.

“I know what will come of this, for things like this I believe they will create a category of ‘artificial intelligence’,” the winner of the competition summed up.
