Windows 11 He’s been with us for just over half a year, and his adoption rate still seems far from what Microsoft is hoping for. But what’s really amazing is that Even the Redmond corporation could not update all the computers of its employees to the latest version of the operating system..
According to the company, they were able to upgrade 190,000 of their computers to Windows 11. According to Microsoft, the procedure was successful in 99% of cases, which was one of the smoothest upgrades the company has experienced. However, an unspecified percentage of computers used by company employees have not yet been able to implement the new software. Why? Because of the ridiculous hardware requirements that also caused so many headaches for the public.
“Windows 11 has special requirements for hardware and percentage of our computers have not been updated. Employees with these devices will continue to run Windows 10 side-by-side and will receive one Windows 11 device the next time they upgrade their PC.”
The fact that Microsoft has not yet updated the computers of all its employees, having already spent several months since the launch of Windows 11, is strange to say the least. And that could mean that even Redmond didn’t factor in the impact of restrictions on officially supported hardware to run it.
Recall that the operating system will only be compatible with computers on which TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are activated, as well as with processors that are less than five years old. It spawned an avalanche of criticism among usersas many thought they had older PCs with more than enough specs to install Windows 11.
This has led to Microsoft loosening some measures, although it hasn’t completely eliminated this segmentation.
Windows 11 rollout may be slower than expected
Let’s not forget that upgrading to Windows 11 is free for Windows 10 users with compatible PCs. In the case of new equipment or one launched in recent years, the installation process is quite automated; however, in other cases it must be done manually.
Other data, which was also striking, shows that the widespread adoption of the latest Microsoft system it will be slower than expected. According to statistics published AdDuplex at the end of March, out of the total number of computers in the world with Windows 10 and Windows 11, only 19.4% completed the second. This meant an increase of only 0.1% compared to the previous month.
It is also a reality that many users tend to wait a considerable amount of time before changing their operating system. Windows 10 has proven to be extremely popular, stable and supported.; and the fact that it supports Home and Pro versions up to 2025 is an important fact for those who prefer not to change their environment.
And to this we must add that the premiere of Windows 11 on some computers was not easy. Let’s not forget that the software came with serious performance issues on PCs with AMD processors, and problems with spectacle on computers with solid state drives (SSDs).
It goes without saying that as Windows 11 matures, more users will use their computers. After all, the OS is destined to be a key element of Microsoft’s future.
