Meta has announced that it is expanding its free token (NFT) sharing feature on Facebook and Instagram. Previously, the tool was only available in a testing phase to select US users.

All US users can now link their NFTs to social media accounts managed by Mark Zuckerberg’s company. In the example of Instagram, profiles from 100 countries can display their “digital collections”.

How to share NFT on Instagram

To share NFT on Instagram, users must link their social network account to one of five available digital wallets, including Coinbase, MetaMask, and Dapper, under the “Digital Collectibles” tab. Then you just have to select the digital token to post on the social network.

When sharing, information such as the owner and creator of the digital work is displayed. Meta explains that it cross-references information with third-party wallets to determine ownership of the blockchain address associated with the NFT. However, this can take away the anonymity that technology offers.

NFT Market

The announcement comes at a time when the volume of traded digital tokens has receded sharply and the number of users has doubled. According to information from Dune Analytics, the number of NFT wallets increased from 3.36 million in January 2022 to 6.14 million in September.

Despite the increase in users, weekly trading volume fell to $146 million in September from $6.2 billion NFTs traded weekly in January. The price of tokens also fell in line with the drop in the value of Etheureum (ETH).
