Scientists from the Universities of York and Aarhus studied infant speech in 36 languages ​​and found similarities in pitch, melody and articulation. “We use a higher tone, more melodic phrases, and a slower rate of expression when speaking to babies… and that’s the same in most languages,” said one of the study’s authors.

Scientists have yet to find an explanation for this. More research is needed.
