Apple currently buys most of its memory chips from two Japanese companies, Western Digital and Kioxia. In March, it was reported that the company plans to add a Chinese manufacturer to its supplier list for the first time.
At first, Apple wanted to use YMTC flash memory in iPhones aimed at the Chinese market. In the future, the company intended to purchase enough chips to provide them with 40% of the world’s iPhone production. These plans are currently reportedly on hold.
