It’s not common to talk about cheap foldable cell phones. In fact, the norm is that these smartphones are aimed at the premium segment, with prices above $1,000. That’s why when a relatively unknown company announced a foldable model costing around $400, it created high expectations: we’re talking about the Blackview Hero 10, which was shown at the exhibition Mobile World Congress and it left a pleasant taste in my mouth. At first glance, what is most striking about the Blackview Hero 10 is its attractive design, somewhat similar to that of the Oppo Find N2 Flip due to its external screen.

When we first look at the Blackview Hero 10 at Mobile World Congress, we see that the external screen has clearly limited functions such as displaying notifications, fast forwarding or pausing music.

Opening it up, we can see that the screen is of good quality, but we can’t ignore the fact that this is a very quick review.

Blackview has not provided all the specifications of the Blackview Hero 10, especially the dimensions. However, it says that when unfolded it is 8.8 millimeters thick (for reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is 6.9 mm thick) and weighs 198 grams.

In terms of the specs we’ve confirmed, it’s worth noting that it’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 MT6789 processor with 12GB of RAM, so we’re definitely looking at a foldable phone that will deliver mid-range performance.

Coming to the cameras of the Blackview Hero 10, we know that it will have two lenses on the outside, one of 108 and the other wide-angle of 8 megapixels, and when we open the phone we will find a 32 megapixel selfie camera.

Blackview Hero 10: price and release date

As we indicated at the beginning of the article, the special feature of the Blackview Hero 10 is the price of 400 euros for the model with 256 GB of internal memory. In dollars, the price should range from $400 to $430.

However, it is not yet known what its release date will be or whether it will release outside of Europe, its main market.

The Blackview brand is present in Germany, France, Italy and Portugal. The Chinese-origin company is known for producing mobile phones for harsh environments (secure phones).

At the time of publication, Blackview did not include the Blackview Hero 10 in the list of available models.
