The number of banks in Kyrgyzstan that refused to work with cards from the Mir system increased from two to ten in a few days. In total, 23 organizations operate in the country, almost half of them have suspended the card service of the Russian payment system.
Two banks called the geopolitical situation the reason for the suspension of work with Mir cards, two other banks cited technical reasons, an Interfax survey showed.
Out of 23 banks in Kyrgyzstan, 10 organizations suspended Mir card service: Bakai Bank, Doskredobank, Bank of Asia, Demirbank, Eurasian Savings Bank, Companion, Kyrgyzstan, Halyk Bank, Aiyl Bank, Kyrgyz-Swiss Bank.
Banks that still work with Mir cards do so with restrictions: some only allow you to withdraw cash from ATMs. The fact that banks in Kyrgyzstan began to stop servicing Mir cards became known on October 18: the first to stop working with them were Bakai Bank and Doskredobank.
