The 4090 Founders Edition has been tested with power limits between 50% and 120%. Tests were done in 10% increments. The authors used a test computer with a Core i9-12900K processor. Control took place, including the games Control Ultimate Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, and Minecraft.
Here are the results for eight games at ultra settings and in 4K resolution with ray tracing:
As a result, raising the power limit was almost pointless. It was 76.9 fps at 100%, 77.6 fps at 120%. But with a drop to 50%, performance dropped to 59.3 fps. It turned out to be optimal to reduce it to 70%. Fps in this case was 73.1 – not far from standard.
