content creators using patreon I’ve been asking for a way for a long time upload and embed videos on the platform. Now that will finally be possible, at least for eligible creators. Use Pro or Premium plans.
Patreon is a monetization platform where you can pay monthly fees to your favorite creators and access exclusive content. But creators who wanted to offer exclusive videos as a pay-as-you-go bonus – a huge draw for converting subscriptions – couldn’t do so on the platform.
Many have resorted to creating links to videos that are not listed on YouTube or other platforms, something extremely easy to leak over the internet. With the new feature, it is much safer that only subscribers can access private videos.
The ability to embed videos directly on Patreon comes with a preview tool that allows you to post a small part of the video for all to see and entice more people to subscribe to see the rest.
“The way creators choose to share their Patreon is simply ‘look, I’m on Patreon!’ We know it’s about sharing some value for fans, not saying, “This is why we’re so excited about this preview feature,” explained Julian Gutman, Patreon’s CPO. During the beta, we saw creators use it very successfully to grow their subscriptions, and we’re excited to expand its reach.”
The resource will not be free
with the breeders Patreon Pro and Premium plans May Upload up to 500 hours of video to the platform without paying extra for it. However, by 2024, the site plans to create a paid version of the feature. For now, Patreon is examining which pricing model they are considering adopting.
Videos on Patreon work both on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. The in-app version even supports the picture-in-picture feature. Videos can also be streamed via Airplay on Apple devices, and Chromecast support “soon” is promised.
