Apple may enable satellite connectivity in iPhone 14 in iOS 16.1.1, according to MacRumors.

formerly a journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple released a minor iOS 16 update in November to enable the new feature. No other iOS 16.1.X is currently considered, while the release of iOS 16.1.1 is expected soon.

In addition, Apple also announced that satellite communications are working in the US and Canada in November of this year.

Satellite connectivity in the iPhone 14 will only be for emergency calls and messages when there are no cell towers nearby. The first two years the feature will be available for free, after which the tools are paid for by a subscription. Its value is still unknown.
