YouTuber Gabriel Pato announced the launch of his tech-focused course platform last week: Pato Academy. The 31-year-old content producer acts like an ethical hacker who helps find vulnerabilities for major technologies like Microsoft, Facebook, and Mastercard. His channel, which has more than 750,000 subscribers, covers issues related to information security and hacker culture.

The technology platform will provide “a gamified environment with purposefully vulnerable applications” that will allow students to test what has been taught in practice. The first course, “Do Bug Ao Bounty”, will be aimed at professionals who already have a background in technology and programming, and will clarify doubts about the work and necessary skills of an ethical hacker.

For Pato, the pandemic was one of the reasons that increased digital threats. Data from (ISC)², a nonprofit organization specializing in training and certifications for cybersecurity professionals, suggests the workforce must grow by 65% to protect critical targets.

“The tutorial aims to collaborate to reduce the number of malicious attacks, because in addition to the technical part, it demonstrates how a hacker’s mindset works from an ethical perspective, and that’s what makes all the difference. “A good hacker needs to be curious and there are many rewards in acting, but the benefits of being ethical are far greater,” he says.

According to Gabriel, Pato Academy is a set of content and initiatives that serve to guide students on a journey that is not quite accessible in Brazil. The expert promises to use teaching methodologies focused on practice, revealing cases and market experts.
