The VKontakte Steps service identified more than a million cities in Russia with the most active and inactive residents. Moscow residents spend more than others per day, and Krasnoyarsk residents spend less than others. It also found that married women take fewer steps per day than single women.
The most active, according to VKontakte’s Steps service, are Moscow residents, who take an average of 6,040 steps a day. With a small margin, residents of St. Petersburg take 5929 steps daily, Novosibirsk closes the top three, taking 5858 steps every day.
Residents of Krasnoyarsk, Omsk and Ufa “walk” less than others. Krasnoyarsk residents, for example, take an average of 4,724 steps a day.
Statistics from the service also showed that single women take on average 15% more steps per day than married women. Girls under 24 turned out to be the most active among the fairer sex, and among men, those over 65 and young people under 24 are the most active.
