In the US Air Force command, there is finally a real reason for optimism – in the past 5th eastern part of eastern South America, after many unsuccessfully successful sound tests of the Lockheed Martin AGM-183A hyperwar missile prototype.
Recently, the leadership of the Pentagon has preached special attention to the detection of a hypersonic attack by its main opponents – Russia and China, as well as the activity of implementation in their missile programs by Iran and North Korea.
The AGM-183A was launched from a B-52H Stratofortress bomber at high altitude. After undocking, the engine was started on the rocket, which accelerated it to Mach 5.
This means that its developers have managed to solve the main problems – to create new heat-resistant materials, avionics and a control system that operate at hypersonic speeds. In the future, it is planned to increase the waiting speed of hypersonic missiles to 20 makhov.
