Recently, the link between food hypersensitivity and various neuropsychiatric disorders has been confirmed. Including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism.
Now experts have learned whether food allergens can manifest themselves in the form of behavioral disorders. It is particularly important that the study also included cases where people showed asymptomatic allergy symptoms.
The scientists conducted an experiment on mice using specially designed test subjects sensitive to β-lactoglobulin, a common allergen for milk. In their case, it turned out that the level of IgE was elevated even when there were no obvious signs of an allergic reaction.
Interestingly, such mice can even eat food containing the allergen for two weeks. And there were no obvious symptoms.
