So the release of the next-gen update for the cult The Witcher 3 has been released.
According to CD Projekt RED, they were used not only on their own developments, but were also added to the remaster of the most popular graphic mods.
It makes no sense to talk about the game itself with mechanics and other things, since in fact it has remained the same. Only the wrapper has changed, and the content has not been constant for 13 years.
Let’s see how the good old game has changed with update 4.0.
The technical condition is lame
I watched games on computers with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards.
Accordingly, I am attaching screenshots with RTX ON and RTX OFF. It is better to look at them from a computer, you can see more details there.
And I’ll say right away – optimization is very lame. This applies to the security mode: with and without beams.
No, I have not seen graphic horrors that are described on the net. But there are enough bugs, and performance could be higher.
At the first stage, the GTX 1070 Ti produced graphical artifacts. They are especially relevant for water:pink mesh. After a few more restarts, she disappeared.
Periodically, Roach (my faithful horse) teleports to the roof or the entrance through the fence. People, thank God, do not meet a friend of a friend. But sometimes the textures of their clothes are slowly loaded. And this is on a fast M2 SSD, not on a “braked” HDD.
In general, I have not seen another negative in a few hours of playing.
But the frame rate was lower than I expected. On the GTX 1070 Ti before the patch, the game ran at a solid 60fps on ultra settings. After the update, I was waiting for indicators in the region of 45-50 frames. However, in reality, only 35-40.
I had no intention even when I myself put graphic mods from the parties of involvement. At the same time, the game looked nicer than it is now.
I saw that console players also complain about FPS drawdowns, but I couldn’t check it myself. There are no updates for the Russian PS Store. So I couldn’t update on my PlayStation 5 either.
The visual is rather disappointing.
Okay, let’s move on to the updated graphics.
The biggest change was the addition ray tracing. It completely changes the lighting in the game and creates realistic reflections.
A special caste of masochistic people can turn on RTX even on video cameras. RTX graphics cards. The frame rate will drop to 10-15, but you will appreciate the “grafon” in full. I strongly advise against raping your computer.
As for visual changes, the difference is noticeable immediately. First of all, textures are sharper. Detailing has almost doubled in an adult. Much has been redrawn from scratch.
Secondly, living is completely different. It looks more natural, juicier, brighter. But at the same time, the picture, as for me, became darker by itself. Personally, I see it day and night.
There is no huge difference in the picture. Therefore, it is difficult for me to understand, due to which the frame rate drops so much. We are waiting for patch 4.0.1 with a performance hotfix.
I don’t see the point in talking about minor changes, like “quick signs” and variable walking speed. They have absolutely no properties. The gameplay remains the same, sometimes clumsy, like many years ago.
I will only note the new quest “In the shadow of the eternal flame.” It is available from the very beginning of the game and activates in the Devil’s Pit in Velen. A small, but quite interesting task.
By the way, after completing it, you will get two skins according to the scenario with Henry Cavill.
Don’t overestimate, this is not a new game
A remake of the first Witcher will be released in 2 years. In the meantime, we are content with the remaster for the most part.
It has become pleasant, there are many small improvements and changes. The list of changes is mandatory. But it does not change the fact that we are still facing the same old game.
Patch 4.0 is available for free on PC and consoles. I advise you to find hot fixes before installing it.
