The Kinescope enterprise video platform is investing over 100 million rubles in its development in Russia, the CIS, the Middle East and Asia, as well as in the ML direction. Due to the slowdown of YouTube, the platform is investing in expanding servers for storing content abroad, the company told RB.RU about this.

The investments will be used to expand the coverage of our own content delivery network (CDN) not only in Russia, but also in other countries where we operate. The reason is that the volume of requests for content migration from companies has increased tenfold since June 2024. Kinescope with up to 6 Tbit/s will increase the capacity of external communication channels; users will be able to watch more than 10 million videos per day. At the end of last month, the volume of downloaded videos was 200% compared to the previous month and reached a peak of 500 thousand videos per day.
The company will also direct part of its investments towards developing ML technologies within the platform. This will be done to improve the quality of UGC content recognition and moderation, and to integrate video streaming and transcription functions.
“Against the backdrop of YouTube’s slowdown and a record surge in video content uploaded to the Kinescope platform in August, we decided to invest in expanding server capacity. Full automation of video migration from YouTube will help companies quickly transfer all site content to the Kinescope platform, and users will be able to watch videos in up to 4K HDR quality,” said the co-founder of Kinescope. Alexander Pavlychev, quoted by the press service.
The platform has been working with video projects since 2020 and specializes in secure video hosting and online streaming for businesses. Its clients include companies such as Gazprom, Phosagro, X5 Retail Group, educational holdings Sber, Netology and Ultimate Education, the GetCourse platform, online schools and video content authors.
YouTube has begun to fight against video upload services on Russian platforms, fearing the departure of Russian bloggers from the site. Foreign hosting sites have begun to ban mass uploads of videos and the queue for importing them is getting longer.
