The growth of sales of organized tours in Russia in 2022 amounted to 16%. The number of tourists has almost doubled, up to 500 thousand people. The growth was made possible by existing cash back programs and subsidized charter flights.
The most popular destinations are Sochi, the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody, Moscow and St. Petersburg, writes Kommersant, citing tour operators.
Tourists chose Moscow and St. Petersburg as an alternative to short trips around Europe. The cost of tourist trips to these cities has increased by 10-20%. At the same time, the undercharging of hotels due to the shortage of foreign tourists led to a reduction in rates for the tourism industry.
Market participants expect growth next year of 10-15%. Now the demand for summer programs as part of early booking promotions exceeds last year by 80%. In December tour operators sell around 10% of summer volumes.
In 2023, state support may be reduced, funding for the tourist cashback program has not yet been provided.
