The SpyHood YouTube channel tested the i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti configurations in modern games. Which build will be faster at ultra-preset 1440p and 4K?
HORSE Call of Duty Warzone Pacific Average performance at 1440p was 161fps with the i7-12700K and RTX 3090 Ti and 146fps with the i9-12900K and RTX 3080 Ti. In 4K these numbers were in the range of 98fps and 90fps respectively.
The game God of War it ran at 1440p with an average frame rate of 121 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti) and 112 fps (i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti) at 4K – 86 and 80 fps respectively.
Dying Light 2 At 4K – it went from 75 and 69 fps to 1440p with average performance of 108 fps and 97 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti, respectively).
Forza Horizon 5 At 1440p it ran at an average of 165 fps with the i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and 156 fps with the i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti. In 4K, these figures were 109 fps and 101 fps, respectively.
Call of Duty Vanguard It ran at 1440p with an average performance of 215 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti) and 297 fps (i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti), at 4K resolution – 132 fps and 120 fps.
The game Days Are Gone up to 1440p with 177 fps and 164 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti) at 4K – 111 fps and 102 fps respectively.
Village Resident Evil It ran at an average frame rate of 219 fps (with i7-12700K and RTX 3090 Ti) and 204 fps (with i9-12900K and RTX 3080 Ti) at 1440p, and 149 fps and 140 fps at 4K.
HORSE cyberpunk 2077 average performance was around 127fps and 116fps at 1440p (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti respectively), 4K – 91fps and 83fps.
Horizon Zero Dawn It went with an average of 152 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti) and 140 fps (i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti) at 1440p, with 96 and 87 fps respectively at 4K.
Red Dead Redemption 2 It ran at 1440p with an average of 153 fps and 141 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti and i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti), 4K – 95 fps and 88 fps performance.
The game battlefield 2042 It went from 94 fps and 84 fps to 1440p with an average of 147 fps (i7-12700K + RTX 3090 Ti) and 134 fps (i9-12900K + RTX 3080 Ti) FPS in 4K.
In terms of power consumption, the configuration with the i9-12900K and RTX 3080 Ti turned out to be better: it needed 614 watts, while the other build needed 719 watts.
In terms of average performance across all games, the i7-12700K-based build was leading the way with the RTX 3090 Ti. At 1440p, the difference between configurations in terms of average FPS across all projects was 3% (159 fps and 155 fps), at 4K – 8% (103 fps and 95 fps).
