By 2022, Russia has become one of the leaders in terms of the number of DDoS attacks received, said analysts at StormWall, a developer of cybersecurity solutions. In total, 1.2 million DDoS attacks were carried out in Russia in 2022.

Russia accounted for 8.4% of all global DDoS attacks; experts have recorded such a high rate for the first time. In the list of the countries most attacked by DDoS, Russia ranked fourth; the traditional leaders were China and India.

Most attacks were committed against the financial sector (28%, 18x growth year-on-year), telecommunications (14%, 12x growth), public sector (14%, 25x growth), retail (12%, 12x growth times) 8 times).

The duration of DDoS attacks committed in 2022 has doubled: if in 2021 they lasted an average of four hours, in 2022 the attacks took eight hours.

Previously, analysts predicted an increase in the number of DDoS attacks of 300% by spring 2023. Hackers will use more sophisticated tools, as well as attacks on web applications.
