After a while, our colleagues at Kotaku had a letter from Xbox head Phil Spencer to the staff on this issue.

In it, the CEO “acknowledged the pain and difficulty of layoffs” but stressed that these were essential to the long-term success of the company’s future products. He also promised to answer all of the staff’s questions and be transparent with them in the coming weeks.

At the same time, the person who shared this letter with Kotaku said there were doubts in the company about Spencer’s sincerity in his appeal. According to him, the head of the department was “not sincere” as if it were an “institutional formulaic response”.

However, a Microsoft employee expressed doubt that meetings or other support measures would help anyone feel better in the current situation.
